Measure the object being held
Record overall dimensions and the surfaces that can safely contact the holder. Identify buttons, ports, vents, lenses or moving areas that must remain accessible.

Describe the mounting surface
A wall, shelf, tube, desk edge, existing screw pattern or equipment frame each creates a different interface. Include photos and dimensions of both sides of the connection.

Explain orientation and load
State how the object should sit and whether the mount sees vibration, pulling, repeated removal or other loads. This context matters more than simply saying the part should be “strong.”

Identify adjustment or removal needs
Some objects should slide in and out, some should be screwed permanently, and others need angle adjustment. Describe the desired user interaction before design begins.
